There are thousands of pages about Beethoven on the web, but madaboutbeethoven.com stands alone. John Suchet, award-winning television journalist, is a recognised authority on the life and music of Ludwig van Beethoven. In this website he gives you a unique insight into the life of the greatest composer of them all. Why unique? Because John, in researching Beethoven’s life for his trilogy on the life of Beethoven, The Last Master, visited every place that Beethoven knew that is still there to be seen today. In the pages of this website, he offers his unrivalled collection of photographs, as well as a comprehensive gallery of Beethoven’s family and friends, to take you into the heart and mind of the great composer. John is well-known to television viewers in the UK as award-winning news correspondent and anchor. In 2004 he left ITN after nearly 32 years, intending to retire from the world of television news. But in 2006 he was invited back into the news studio by Channel Five, and once again anchored national news bulletins. He continues to concentrate his time away from news on his Beethoven work. He broadcasts regularly on BBC radio and Classic FM. In 2006 Classic FM commissioned him to write The Classic FM Friendly Guide to Beethoven. The book was published in August 2006. In 2005 he was Series Consultant to BBC2 television’s dramatised life of Beethoven, The Genius of Beethoven, and was a high-profile contributor to the accompanying BBC Radio 3 series, The Beethoven Experience. John gives his talk about Beethoven, “The Last Master”, around the UK. He also gives a talk about the Strauss family, set against the decline of the Habsburg Empire, entitled “The Last Waltz”, as well as a talk about his television news career, “One More Shot, Bob”. To find out more about these talks, and where you can see them, visit John’s website, www.johnsuchet.co.uk. All John’s books on Beethoven are available through www.amazon.co.uk, as well as bookshops. |
