About the site www.madaboutbeethoven.com - the definitive Beethoven website -has been created because you wanted it. I had the idea in late 1999, and wrote an article for the Daily Mail giving the site address. The site at that stage consisted of just one page, inviting you to e-mail me if you were interested in knowing the launch date and asking you for suggestions. I was inundated with e-mails - a month after the article was published e-mails were still coming in. So I got to work. The site opened in February 2000 with just a handful of pages. Gradually it expanded. It now has over 50 pages, including an in-depth chronology of Beethoven's life, portraits and biographies of his family, as well as photographs and descriptions of the main locations associated with Beethoven in Bonn, Vienna, the Austrian countryside and northern and southern Bohemia. It also features my rare and precious map of Vienna, dating from 1827 - the year of Beethoven's death - showing Vienna as Beethoven knew it. Soon it will have portraits and biographies of his patrons and friends. And then I will begin the massive task of examining the music. I will feature:
Ulitimately I hope to have details of upcoming Beethoven concerts in Britain, as well as in other countries. You can also read about me on MadaboutBeethoven - how my passion for Beethoven's music came about - as well as details of my published trilogy on his life, The Last Master. You can also order the books direct through Amazon. As a result of the publication of my books, I now travel Britain giving talks about Beethoven, accompanied by musicians. You will find details of my talks venues on the site. So far the site has been visited by Beethoven enthusiasts in 27 countries. They have sent hundreds of e-mails to the site, and I have endeavored to answer them all. I have received comments, suggestions, compliments (I am pleased to say!), and even requests for advice on how to perform particularly pieces. There will always be the opportunity for you to email me with your suggestions and comments. Let me know what you think using the feedback form below. NOTE
